Muhlenberg College has opened doors to students’ future plans and has been committed to their intellectual and personal growth since its founding in 1848. A traditional liberal arts college, Muhlenberg encourages students to explore the academic curriculum in breadth and depth. More than 30% of students double major and most students enhance their learning experience through internships, research, study abroad, job shadowing, and civic engagement.
Every student makes a difference in the community and contributes to the dynamic learning and living environment on campus. The 2340 students come from over 40 states and 20 countries outside the US. Muhlenberg has a student-to-faculty ratio of 10:1 and 19 students in an average class. Students enjoy a personalized approach to education and work side by side with their professors. Academic advisors mentor and guide students throughout their college career. The faculty are well known for their accessibility to students and believe in an open-door policy. At Muhlenberg, it’s common to see professors and students dining together, professors attending their students’ events, and collaborative learning that takes place beyond the classroom.
Students choose from 38 majors and 35 minors. Muhlenberg has one of the top theatre programs in the US and is also well known for business administration, accounting, and the health sciences. A new major in Sustainability Studies aligns well with the College’s mission to maintain environmental health. Students with outstanding academic accomplishments are invited to join the honors programs. There are many established partnerships with other institutions, including Columbia University Engineering Program, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Villanova University School of Law, and Boston University School of Medicine and School of Business.
Muhlenberg is located in the vibrant Lehigh Valley, less than 144 km west of New York City and 96 km north of Philadelphia. It is the third largest and fastest growing city in Pennsylvania. An entrepreneurial hub, Allentown is a lure for entrepreneurs and new businesses ranging from tech and design to logistics, finance, medicine and biotechnology. The Lehigh Valley has been named one of the top five fastest-growing regions in the United States.
The College has limitless options for activities with clubs, sports and athletics, and an amazing fitness centre. A current student mentions – “Majority of the people I've met are friendly, kind, and passionate about what they are studying. All of these departments have great faculty and solid reputations. And I loved my classes! I always feel safe on campus, no matter what time it is.” Another student says – “Muhlenberg carries an atmosphere of acceptance and togetherness. It’s very hard to come here and not find a place where you belong. Our academics are challenging with a faculty that pushes students for greatness. While it’s no walk in the park, you can be certain you’re receiving the best education possible. Oh, and let’s talk about the food! 5 Star food and staff.”
