Do you want to be in the heart of the city that invents tomorrow — 47 square miles of energy, optimism, learning, growth, internships, and unlimited opportunities. Are you a student who is thinking of a lifestyle in an urban location and still have everything accessible? The University of San Francisco is the place for you. Known for its ethnic diversity, USF makes a fantastic learning environment with a Jesuit approach. At USF, academics meet unique opportunities and students have access to hands-on projects, networking events, and educational tours. A 160-year-old institution, USF has 55 acres of mid-sized hilltop campus located right in the heart of the city of San Francisco also popularly known as the Silicon Valley.
The College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Management are the most relevant for international undergraduate students. The College of Arts and Sciences houses popular majors in natural sciences, computer science, data science, biology, psychology, physics, engineering, economics, sociology, and media studies. The School of Management is ranked #40 on the Forbes list for its entrepreneurship & innovation program. Business Analytics also is one of the strongest and high-demand majors, and marketing & finance and hospitality are also emerging popularly. USF is ranked in the top #10 for its nursing programs and is one of the most selective majors at USF.
USF’s student-to-faculty ratio is 13:1, and most classes have fewer than 30 students, which allows stronger interaction with the professors. An exciting maker’s space on campus - called the ‘Innovation Hive’ is specially designed for engineering students to get their hands dirty! A junior says: “I’m delighted that I chose USF, not only because of my friends but the wonderful professors here. The professors really care about all of their students and go out of their way to ensure their success”.
The robust student community on campus is what USF is known for. There are 100+ active clubs, of which ‘VarCitySF’ is a popular hip-hop dance club. USF is one of the few NCAA Division I schools on the Next Genius College List, making it all the more exciting for athletes and students pursuing sports professionally. USF’s community focuses strongly on social justice, which goes beyond just community service. Students have access to various educational services on campus, and all students get two advisors: an academic success coach for continuous academic guidance and faculty advisors for guidance related to their major.
The University of San Francisco offers comfort and convenience of on-campus housing for students for all 4 years. On-campus housing is available in different styles like single dorms and twin-sharing dorms, gender-neutral dorms, and suite-style living. Off-campus housing is allowed from the freshman year itself, which is helpful for students who have relatives living in San Francisco. All USF students get a free bus pass to travel across the city. The campus advances in its safety for students with active security services like 24-hour foot and vehicle patrols, late-night transport/escort service, 24-hour emergency telephones, lighted pathways/sidewalks, controlled dormitory access, and more. USF has an on-campus wellness and fitness center with fitness classes, an olympic sized pool, and basketball courts. Watch this short video of Dr. Vishal Sikka, Founder and CEO of VIANAI, who shares his thoughts on the many benefits of a USF education
USF has a truly award-winning Career Center which helps students plan their professional pathways in a personalized manner. On average, over 70% of undergraduate students do at least 2 internships before they graduate. What’s unique is that at USF, students can pursue internships even during their semester – which grants exciting opportunities in the bay area.
