A private institution founded in 1867, Lewis & Clark is located in the bustling metropolitan city of Portland. Overlooking lush hills, South Portland city is a melange of global thinkers, rich history, and a diverse & multicultural population. The vibrant campus is just six miles from downtown and has easy access to the Cascade Mountains, the Pacific Ocean, and Tryon Creek State Park, all of which are within fifty miles.

At L&C, academics are divided into three pieces: General Education, Majors, and Electives. The college offers 29 majors & 31 minors and all the classes are taught by expert professors. The average class size is 17 and a student-faculty ratio of 12:1. Lewis & Clark is more than a top-notch undergraduate liberal arts college. L&C students have great opportunities to engage in undergraduate research. What’s more interesting is the 6 Academic Symposia which are organized every year. These symposia are planned and managed completely by the students, providing them opportunities to present their research, and develop exceptional leadership and management skills.

What makes Lewis & Clark different than other colleges? It’s their Career Center! It prepares students for a career in Pre-Law (L&C Law!), Education (L&C Grad School of Education and Counseling!), health professions, entrepreneurship, and MBA & engineering. L&C's 4-5-6 Commitment provides students with additional learning opportunities: a bachelor's degree in four years, a bachelor's degree plus a master's teaching degree from their graduate school in five years, or a bachelor's degree plus a law degree from their law school in six years, thus saving a year of study and tuition. A L&C professor says: “At L&C, we pride ourselves on our ability to prepare students for long-term success.” The Career Center and the Bates Center for Entrepreneurship and Leadership will support your career success through advising, networking, resources, programming, and more.

Athletics is a very popular on campus with 19 Varsity teams. At L&C, interfaith understanding and personal development are valued, and the college community provides a wide range of outdoor activities such as skiing, backpacking, whitewater sports, sea kayaking, and hiking. There are many on-campus events which include slide programs, films, and seminars on outdoor topics. There is 90+ trips accessible to all the students all around the year. “From Portland, you have access to so many different landscapes, and for someone like me who craves adventure, it’s super exciting”, says a college senior.

In Portland, L&C students have access to jobs and internships at Nike, Adidas, Oregon Health & Science University, US Department of Justice, Japan Exchange & Teaching Program. But that’s not all, L&C’s students also go on to work at the top companies around the world and pursue further education at top colleges in the world including Babson, GeorgiaTech, UMichigan, Lewis & Clark Law School and more. Portland is known for its cuisine, and food trucks or carts with over 500 of them across the city. Portofino, Chez Jose Mexican Café, Gino's Restaurant & Bar, and Brother's Wings & Bings are just a few of the famous restaurants near campus. Portland, a city known for its bridges, is also a bike-friendly city.
